Critiques of group members
Submit your critique as a .pdf file to turnin.ecst.csuchico.edu.
At the end of the semester everyone in the class will be required to
submit a critique of the performance of each member of his or her group.
I use these critiques to help determine a students project participation grade. Thus they are very important.
I want to know what your groupmates have contributed to the group
project. Focus on accomplishments (including learning, teaching,
leading, helping) and not on personality. If the only thing you
have to say about a group member is that he or she is nice and liked to
help then I will assume that he or she did not contribute much to the
project.
It is very helpful to compare accomplishments/efforts of your group members:
Sam 30%
Joe 20%
Sally 20%
Alfred 15%
Myself 14%
Max 1%
Here is an example of a critique that leads me to believe that Joe had exceptional contributions to the project:
Joe was the most crucial member of
our team. Without him we would not have had a project to
demonstrate. He lead our implementation effort and implemented
the majority of our networking layer -- the hardest part of our
project. He was also always there to help when one of us got
stuck. Joe got along well with all the group members.
Here is an example of a critique that leads me to believe that Sam did not contribute much to the project:
Sam was always in a good mood.
He always made everyone feel good at the meetings. He was
willing to talk to anyone about the problems they were having and often
would sit next to group members while they worked on the
implementation. Sam has a good artistic sense and had some good
ideas about what colors we should use. Sam is a really great guy,
is really funny, and is a good cook. I would certainly want to
work with Sam in the future.
