How to forward your ecst e-mail:
If you read your e-mail on a domain other than ecst.csuchico.edu, you can set up your ecst account to forward that mail to you.
Steps:
1) log on to an ecst machine (you can telnet to ect-unix.ecst.csuchico.edu)
2) in your home directory create a file called
".forward" you must include the "." in the filename,
but do not include the "'s Most students use either pico or vi to
edit files.
3) in your .forward file put all the e-mail address you want your ecst
e-mail forwarded to. For example, if your ecst username is xyz,
and the .forward file contains exactly this text
my_account@hotmail.com
all mail sent to xyz@ecst.csuchico.edu will be forwarded to my_account@hotmail.com
You can decrease your chance of missing an e-mail message because of
network problems by keeping a copy on the ecst mail server by including
your ecst e-mail in the .forward file
my_account@hotmail.com
xyz@ecst.csuchico.edu
WARNING: if you never delete your ecst e-mail, your mailbox will fill up and all your mail will be lost.
