My current research efforts focus on two project areas: 1) The new Intelligent Systems Lab (ISL) and Institute for Research on Intelligent Systems (IRIS) project, supported by NSF MRI/RUI, design and development of our robotics curriculum, camp, and competitions 2) the design and development of a large-scale multi-agent systems tool for soft computing, complexity analysis, and intelligent systems applications. To achieve these goals I am interested in furthering collaborative partnerships with colleagues from fellow institutions, national laboratories, and industry. I have almost ten years research experience in artificial neural networks: ensembles of constructive networks, selection and combination methods, and development of the Neural Network Ensemble Simulator (NNES) and Scientific Database (NNES SciDB). Additionally, I have over ten years collective experience in the research and teaching of traditional AI techniques, knowledge engineering, data acquisition, database technologies, and more recently, hybrid multi-agent soft-computing technologies. Other related interests encompass machine learning, embodied intelligence, and data mining. Application areas of most interest (for collaborative efforts) include bio-surveillance, threat detection, geophysics, robotics, and natural language processing. |
