Sea Lion Encounter
1 p.m.
Discuss the natural history of sea lions with Aquarium staff, prepare a sea lion snack, learn about their basic needs and receive a fishy kiss from Lea, one of the Aquarium’s friendlier pinnipeds and a photo of your experience.
(Registration required.) $35 members, $45 nonmembers.

Aquarium Sleepover (Whale presentation)
7 p.m. to 9 a.m.
Kids ages 7-11 spend a fun-filled night at the Aquarium. They go on an aquarium scavenger hunt that takes them from shore to sea and learn how to identify various sea creatures. Before turning in, get a shark presentation, a movie and pizza. Wake up to muffins and juice, then go behind-the-scenes to see what’s involved in caring for the animals at the Aquarium. (Registration required) $40 members, $50 nonmembers.

Shark and Finned Friends Encounter
1 p.m.
Be introduced to the care and feeding requirements of sharks and other fish living at the Aquarium. Prepare diets and feed sharks, halibut and other animals in Passages of the Deep, while learning about the true nature of these animals and how they’ve been misrepresented throughout history.
(Registration required.) $35 members, $45 nonmembers.

New Year’s Octopus Encounter
10 a.m. Learn what’s involved in caring for one of the ocean’s most intelligent creatures as you come hand-to-sucker with a giant Pacific octopus. Under the supervision and guidance of an Aquarist, you’ll have an opportunity to handle an octopus and watch it eat a special treat prepared by you. (Registration required.) $10 members, $15 nonmembers.
