 BRUCE The DRAGON LEE
Inspiration

I have had a huge interest in Bruce Lee since I started martial arts class when I was young. His grace and power have always amazed me. I have tons of Bruce Lee posters around the house. So I figured that making my own Bruce Lee picture would be lots of fun. I kind of realized the huge task I was taking upon myself. But you never fully know the taste of something until you eat.

Textures and Images

I used several image maps for reference to create my own Bruce Lee UV image map. Using pictures of his face as reference, I painted his face in Aura Paint. The rest of his body is applied procedurals to the surface editor in the color, specularity, and bump texturing. The rest is composited pictures in Photoshop to add a background.
Time Frame

I spent about 55 hours on this project. Learning how to do organic modeling takes up an incredible amount of time. Understanding the concepts of modeling, visualizing the correct proportions, and making sure that your image maps look and fit correct.

Problems and Solutions

Problems Where to begin? Sub-patching was an issue at first. Then making all the points and polygons align and fit correctly is tedious and time-consuming. Understanding UV texturing at first was very complicated. Making the UV image map was fun but also very time consuming. I lost a hand I had modeled because I left it on the desktop instead of the scratch drive and didn’t get to save it.

Solutions Tutorials, tutorials, tutorials. And Clarke. Posting questions on forums is also a good way to get answer most of the time.
References

Google was the search engine through which I found all my textures. I typed in the word like UV image maps, UV texturing, Human Modeling, Iris texturing. I found a really helpful video download on modeling a head in
www.simplylightwave.com in the free video tutorials. I also found a good UV texturing tutorial at
