| | Inspiration
My inspiration for this assignment came from my interests in fantasy art. This particular piece evolved from movies that I’ve seen such as Ferngully, Peter Pan, and Legend.

| | Problems and Solutions
First problem I had was modeling a leaf. I found a tutorial on the Internet, but they were just screenshots with no written directions or steps. My solution was to do my best with the tutorial and adapt and adjust what I needed.
Second problem was creating the stem/stand with a round base that tapers as it rises. Solution was the magic bevel tool that was hidden.
Third problem I had was finding how to multiply my “fireflies”. Solution was the array tool. Changed the X,Y,Z values and manually rotated each bug to face a different direction.

| | Time Frame
Desk modeling took a total of two class periods, one for the leaf and one for the bulb and stem. Both the trunk and amber were done in one class period. The pencil was imported from the previous assignment. What took the longest was adjusting the surface effect and lighting to get your desired affect. This took my two days (including outside lab time).
