Tong Thao Desk Scene
 Hell on Earth
Inspiration

Basically my desk is a piece of hell on earth.  It is like a prison that I can’t escape.  It is a place where I don’t want to be or spend most of my time.  I study hard and try to get good grades to improve my skills.  That’s why I hate my desk; I spend too much time on it.  The picture in the paper is a symbol of what I would rather be doing then studying.  I would rather play a sport with my brothers then study.  But it has always been business before pleasure for me.

Problems and Solutions

The problems I had was that I was new to lightwave and I didn’t really know the tools until I asked some questions about where to find the preset texture and how to put texture on.  A major problem I had was time management.  I didn’t realize how long it was going to take until the last few lab days of this project.  I was cramming everything at the end.
Time Frame

I took more time then there was to finish my desk scene.  I had to stay after lab a couple times to finish everything.  I didn’t spend as much time planning the desk scene and now I regret it.  I spent maybe 10 minutes in lecture to draw out a desk.  The thing that took me the longest to do was texture.  I couldn’t get the right texture or I couldn’t get the texture turned a certain way.  The modeling was easier then anticipated because everything is already there.  All you have to do is drag and drop.  The lighting was fairly easy because I had used a spot light and it was easy to manipulate.
