Bryan Stephan Desk Scene
 Start Small Again
Inspiration

My inspiration for the desk assignment came when I was driving up the 32, I saw on the right side of the road an Ad for new homes. You know, those signs with the pictures of the new beautiful homes and the happy families standing in front. Well next to the sign there was an old homeless guy and I got to thinking that this guy had no chance of ever getting a house at a place like that. Even though this guy had probably lived in the city his whole life, and fought in the last war so we could afford a new house. He probably won’t be buying one anytime soon.  Then some family from out of town would move into one of the new homes and comment on the homeless guy’s crowding there city and to get a job or something.  Go figure, well anyway my scene is a desk scene of maybe some old homeless guy trying to get his life together looking at a new homes sign in his alley.

Problems and Solutions

The objects where pretty simple the hardest part was creating the flash light and shot glass texture. The desk was more or less boxes with Boolean holes in the center and a long board which seemed to work nice with the scene. The part of the scene that seemed to challenge me the most was texturing and finding the right bricks or concrete. The whole idea for the project came to me so well for this it wasn’t really too hard to plan out other than that the whole lot of my time went to texturing and lighting. It was hard at first to find where I wanted light to come from and lining it up with the flash light and texturing is a nit picking processes I found out.
Time Frame

I would have finished sooner had I know light wave a little better but with that in mind the whole thing took me about 20 hours of work, including labs.
