 Desk Scene
Inspiration

Keeping the lid, or ceiling and roof, evokes suspense to see inside the modern dollhouse.  Actually, my office is quite similar, though this one does away with clutter.  Although I can find anything filed in my mess, as they say, nothing beats a serene organized desk like my dream scene.  As much as I try to stay on top, mine’s in constant flux.  Whenever possible or necessary, I clean deep enough to feel the actual desk still there holding everything up like atlas.

Seriously, I wanted this desk ever since I sold furniture at one time.   Although sort of cumbersome, it’s a great space saver compared to traditional desks.  I just switched my up for a little change adding my new printer to the horizon and upgrading my computer.  There’s my special domestic Hallmark moment.   I’ve been trying to follow the Chinese placement art, Feng Shui.  The real Feng Shui occurs in the depiction of my desk and so forth in my virtual room.

All of the objects in the setting are essentially just as in real life.  The digital room is larger and holds a sofa verses a loveseat, my drumset is larger, I have a desktop computer, and a bed is where I would like the pool table to be.  I manufactured the required desk and lamp.  I made the lamp glass as well as the pencil holder I made.  The other objects are from the Lightwave objects library.  I tweaked a few of them, like the drums and the airplane.  One can really get carried away.  I wanted a pool table, a dart board, a chess set, skis, and I wanted to scan in the outside of the window and some art prints to hang on the wall among other artifacts.

Problems and Solutions

With every problem came prayers and eventually a solution.  There are many modifications in my final rendered images.  For example I incorporated my airplane along with 4x3 and a 16x9 LCD flat panel displays for my computer.  The tree I made is placed in front of my parking lot as a backdrop.  I hope the computer lights appear in my image.  My drums are as is, just a few cymbals shy, with an extra floor tom, minus my roto-toms.  My desk, glass, lamp, and pencil are in there somewhere.  Early to Layout is key.
