Brigitte Rocklein Desk Scene
 Moving Day
Inspiration

As a college student I have moved numerous times.  Each move requires boxes upon boxes to get to the next place.  My scene aims to represent the emptiness of a room as belongings and treasures are packed up and ready for the move.  Moving often gives students a fresh start if they wish to take one.  They can throw out the old and bring in the new.  With the beginning of a new day and with a fresh start, moving can be a very important time in a college students life.

Problems and Solutions

Problem #1- My first problem dealt with lighting.  I felt the scene was too dark even though I had three point lights from my lamp.  Some of the detail was lost because there wasn’t enough light in the room.  I tried adding a distant light outside but this made the whole picture way too bright and made everything look over exposed. The solution to this problem came about indirectly when I added my outside picture.  Somehow the picture projected outside made the entire scene a little bit brighter.

Problem #2- Another problem that I ran into was that my fish tank on top of the table was really reflective and seemed to always be too bright when the table underneath it lacked any light.  Also, the cardboard moving box was dark in the front and you could not read the text.  To solve this, I messed around with the placement of the objects.  I moved the table and the fish tank further away from the light and the box towards the back wall, closer to the light.
