Inspiration

The idea for Artist’s Mind came to me because I have a hard time trying to focus and get started on a project. That was one of my goals to work on for this year. I want to free my mind and just create. That is why the chair is pulled away from the desk and the papers are blank. It is my self expression that I can pull out of my prison of a room and create anywhere I want.

Problems and Solutions

Some of the problems that I came across were lighting, rendering, camera location, and saving the image. The lighting was not fully figured out, so that was fixed by changing the design from a well lit room to a dark, cold room. I think that with it being night the message is delivered better anyway. I also had problems with rendering. I spent all morning trying to figure out why I could not render the image and found out that the problem was camera location. Another problem that I had was trying to save the image after the render. That was discovered when I had another window pop up after the quick render, and then I was able to save it.

Time Frame

The project took easily 25 to 30 hours to complete. This happened because I spent many hours working on objects that would not even be in the screen shot. I had a few different ideas about how it would layout. It wasn’t until final render, and many unused shots, that I found the best image to convey my message.
References

I used two major resources and one minor resource. I used the Lightwave book from class as well as another book called Inside Lightwave 8. The minor resource that I used was 3dcafe.com. The resource that I used helped a little bit but not really. The problems that I had were fixed by trial and error.
