Chris Burlison Desk Scene
 Water Escape
Inspiration

The inspiration for my desk scene comes from my love for being around water, whether it is a lake, river, or ocean. I grew up in Tacoma, Washington so being around water makes me feel at home. Also I have always wanted to travel all around the world so that is the idea behind the world map that is the wall paper on the left wall behind the desk. I created my desk and light that are in my room at home.

Problems and Solutions

Problem: Rendering the final scene took at least an hour due to the size of the glass object.

Solution:Next time I will create a much smaller glass object. By removing the glass from the scene and pressing f11 I was able to see the scene rendered in a much shorter time.

Problem: While attempting to synchronize an object to Layout from Modeler the Layout crashed and I lost a considerable amount of information.
Solution: Next time I will save after making any modification to my work. By loosing my work I was able to create some objects again which gave me a chance to become more familiar with the program and its features.
Time Frame

I spent one hour planning my scene. I drew a detailed sketch of the objects I wanted to include in my scene. After discussing the sketch with the professor I had more ideas about the direction I would go to create an interesting desk composition.

I spent an hour and a half modeling the desk to the exact measurements of my desk at home.

I spent an hour modeling the light.

It took an hour to model the pencil.

The glass took twenty minutes to model but a full hour to render.

I spent fifteen minutes modeling the room of my scene.

In all I spent two hours texturing the scene.

The lighting took an hour and fifteen minutes.

The final rendering of the scene took an hour.
