Scott Wilhelm Final Scene

 Hagia Sofia
Inspiration

I took an art class a couple semesters ago at ButteCollege, and remember seeing a picture of the Hagia Sofia.  I just loved the architecture and the way it looked, so I decided to try and model it.  I had never done any architecture in 3d before, so I thought this would be a good chance to.  As far as the rest of the scene goes, there really was no inspiration.  I just added in features that I thought would make it look nice.

Problems and Solutions

I had problems combine Skytracer and radiosity.  Since radiosity would rely on making light out of a white background, Skytracer would not show up.  To fix it I rendered one shot with radiosity, and one with Skytracer.  The last step was just to composite the sky onto the other image.

Another problem I had was with the textures.  I had to do a lot of editing to the brick in Layout, including desaturation, contrast, and other changes.  I also had to remove the lettering using Photoshop’s stamp tool.
