Gabe Scott Final Scene

 Chandelier of a Thousand Renders
Inspiration

Given the season I wanted to build a scene accordingly.  My initial intent was to create a scene inside a snow globe and make the rest of my room somewhat visible in the reflection off the glass.  After finishing most of my scene, I decided to model a chandelier just for the hell of it.  After putting a large amount of time into that particular element, it became the focus of my scene. . . . unfortunately became the focus of my scene.

Problems and Solutions

Problem 1:  Modeling a fluffy, fake leather couch by model is not fun.
Solution 1:  Lightwave has a nice couch . . . free and quick

Problem 2:  I have 15 point lights
Solution 2:  I think I either gained patience points here

Problem 3:  Getting light intensity, flare and distances correct given the horribly long render times required for all my lights was a huge problem.
Solution 3:  I started rendering in 150 x 200 instead of 800 x 1000.  I also set volumetrics and antialiasing to lower settings so renders would go faster and I could get better ball park values for settings.
