| | Inspiration
I have memories from my childhood of frequently visiting the Oregon coast with my parents. It was always one of my favorite places to go because the scenery was amazing. I visited the coast again last summer and stayed at a little beach house. Down the beach from the place I was staying was this cool old lighthouse. I decided to try to model my scene to resemble that lighthouse. Also I really wanted to try to model water.

| | Problems and Solutions
My biggest problems were textures. The first texture problem I ran into was creating the ocean. I followed a tutorial to get the basics down but didn’t like the result. Also I was missing a file that I needed called Tinfoil.tga, which I finally managed to get. Then I had to resize the object a million and one times to get it down to a size that would allow the camera to take in and still see my island and lighthouse. Then I spent forever tweaking the setting of the bump maps till I got an ocean wave/surface that I liked. Basically it was just a battle of will to get the texture to look the way I wanted. Next was the lighthouse door. I spent forever looking for a double door texture but all the ones I found were either a great picture but at a funny angle or just plain terrible. I finally found a picture of a single door that looked good so I cut my door into 2 separate polys and then renamed the 2. Then applied the single door to each and resized it till it looked good.
