Inspiration

This is my desk at home where I do all my homework. I spend many hours at a time here trying to figure out my programming assignments. This place is so common to me so I thought I would use it for my desk scene.

Problems and Solutions

At first I tried to create the support bar to the desk by using rail extrude but it was not working with the Bezier tool, only the pen tool. I was not able to get straight enough lines with the pen tool, so I just created a long cylinder and used the bend tool to create a bend of the proper radius, copied it and fit the copies together to make the final shape.

When I applied the Microsoft desktop to the monitor, it was applied horizontally flipped because Lightwave thought the front of the monitor was the other side. I solved this by flipping the image itself in Aura.

When creating the base for the chair, I was going to use the Bezier tool to create the outline and then extrude it. I was unable to do this because the Bezier tool for some mysterious reason was missing. Instead I created the shape of one extension with the cylinder tool, copied it 4 other times, aligned them appropriately, and extruded. This method turned out to be relatively simply.

I found the course book "Essential Lightwave 3D 7.5" by Timothy Albee useful in performing some minor tasks.
