Inspiration

Inspired by the internet short series called “Salad Fingers”
I took the concept of the main character and put it into a more realistic context.

Problems and Solutions

The hardest thing I tried to make was the legs for the desk.  I tried many different things and nothing seems to look how I wanted them to.  I couldn’t get the curve right, and finally when I did, the taper was totally wrong.

I found the rail extrude tool that followed a line I set, then I used the taper tool to taper each section of the leg as it followed the curve.

Getting the lamp shade to actually look and act like a lamp shade should.
I found the radiosity feature, this is supposed to add the light rays scattering to various objects but this helped generate the 3rd problem, and was unable to use it due to time constraints.

Getting a decent render time with all the effects and lights I wanted.
No solution found.

Time Frame

Planning about 4 hours and changed it more as I went.

Modeling: Spent about 6 hours on the desk alone and about 8 hours on the rest.

Lighting and rendering: I spent at least 6 or 7 hours working with lighting and rendering options, not to mention the time waiting to see how it would look.
