Inspiration

I didn’t have any one thing in mind when I created this. I’ve always been fascinated with space and space travel. I got the idea of a cylindrical room from a time travel book I had read. I was kind of bored of the average box shaped room with 4 walls and this ended up turning out a lot better than I had anticipated. I was going for a more simplistic look, one of isolation and seclusion.

Problems and Solutions

My biggest issue was with the lighting. I had originally wanted to make the electroball and glass container the source of light for my room, but I could not get enough light to make all the objects visible. My solution was to create 2 overhead lights and set small short fallout point lights throughout my scene to give a little visibility to the dark areas of the scene.

I’ve had some 3D modeling experience in the past which helped with understanding how the commands and tools would work.
