| | Inspiration
My roommate and his girlfriend were having wine the other night and they were using my computer. One of them left an empty wine glass on my desk. When I noticed it, I decided that it would be cool to try to model something that was real, to try to make it as accurate as possible.

| | Problems and Solutions
My biggest problem was getting my lamp settings correct so that the lampshade would allow light out and still look semi-realistic. After several tries and getting frustrated because there wasn’t enough light in my scene to illuminate my objects I added a second light. I put a spotlight in the scene as far from the desk as possible to create a feeling like a door was open and light from a hall was being cast into the room. I also ran into problems with my wine glass. Once I got all the sizes correct I found out that the copy of lightwave I was using didn’t have any of the preset textures so I had to find a tutorial online to make the glass effect. And finally a lot of my problems came from the fact that I’m not completely comfortable using lightwave yet. I spent a lot of time redoing certain cuts and moves to get everything correct. My desk took me the longest of all my object just because I was still getting used to the program.
