 Another Day of Homework
Inspiration

I was inspired to create a new room to do my homework in. With the amount of homework I get, being in the same room all the time gets boring. I started with my desk at home but changed the surroundings. I made the room more like an office so I could get the feeling of doing work for a job instead of doing homework for school. Since I am graduating this year I thought I’d get an idea of what it is going to be like in the “real world”.

Problems and Solutions

I ran across one major problem and that was the lighting. The one light in the room wasn’t giving off enough light so that you could see the details of the desk. So what I did was added a light to the ceiling to get the effect of the light bouncing off the ceiling and creating light throughout the room. This was still not enough so I had to add a distant light as if light was coming into the room from an opened door. That did the trick.
Time Frame

The desk took me about 5 hours to do. I had issues with the front and the back and the back had to become the front and the front had to become the back. It became very confusing. The room took not time at all. And for the most part, the rest of the objects accept for the pencil and the glass were from Lightwave. Getting the lighting right took me about an hour or two.

References

Besides the use of the carpet texture, I did not use any other references.
