|
| | Inspiration The scene is supposed to give off an “after a show” feel to it with the empty stage and all the audiences have already left and there’s still some cleaning up to do. There’s empty cups still on the table and the lights are about to be turned off. The idea came from a mix of what I had originally wanted to do for my desk scene along with some new thoughts. I decided to use those old ideas along with new ones to make up this after the show scene. While I was trying to think up of some ideas, the song Miss Misery by Elliot Smith just happened to be playing and that was how I got the idea for Johnnie Walker’s RedLabel but in the end I decided not to add it. And the song also made me think of a small club/café show that couples would go on a romantic date or place for new artist’s to play their music. I was trying to set this kind of feel to the scene.

| | Problems and Solutions
I had three problems along the way. One had to do with the rose laying down. I couldn’t get the rose to look like it was lying down since I would have to slightly flatten the side of the rose that is making contact with the surface of the table. That was getting a bit complicated and only ruining my original model of the rose so to stop wasting more time on it, I just decided to make a vase and put the rose in it. The second problem was the microphone. I had decided to take a shot of the scene from the side of the microphone with the table in the background, just vice versa of my original scene with the table in front and the microphone stand in the back. Since I did not included it into my original plan my model of the microphone was sloppy and not very real. My original solution was to find a tutorial on how to make the microphone but instead I found at the Newtek website the actual object of the microphone, so I decided to use that instead and modify it a little to make it the height that I wanted. The last one was rendering time. From my test renderings, I had estimated that each render would take about 45 – 75 minutes. I had planned on taking 3 renders so it would take me about 3 hours and 45 minutes so I gave myself 4 hours for rendering. However, along the way little mistakes were made like deciding to change the lighting or the camera view or accidentally moving an object and didn’t realize until after the render has already started. That took too much time and also these renders took a lot longer than I had anticipated even though the final scene was not exactly how I had pictured it to be, but it couldn’t be help, time ran out.
