Inspiration

While I was brain storming for this project I wanted to keep things as simple as possible.  Since it was my first project, and my desk at home would have been rather complicated to duplicate, I started trying to get some ideas from the shape of the desk I wanted to create.  As I was brainstorming I ket remembering a small table that I had next to my bed when I was a child.  I used to use this table for just about everything.  That was when it occurred to me that making a child's desk scene might be an interesting way to approach this project, since not only are there a lot of fun things a child would have on their desk but I could make the room bright and colorful.

I created this room to be like a play room for the child where they can go to do all kinds of crafts and activities they would want to do.  They also have a nice view of a tree right outside the window to help them be creative.

Problems and Solutions

Most of the problems I had with this project were simply trying to figure out how all the tools work.  It took me a while to get the glass to look the way I wanted it to.  The lamp was also a problem because originally it was set to a chrom preset which for some reason was not working when I tried to render, so I simply changed it to a different metal preset, which I liked better in the end.  The lamp shade did not come out exactly as I planned when I was trying to use the bevel tool to make it look like fabric stretched over a wire frame, but for the moment it looks fine.
