Inspiration

I wanted to do something different than just a desk in a room. The first thing I though of was a desk up in the clouds, which would have looked cool, but modeling clouds is beyond me at this point. The next thing I thought of was doing a long hallway, as you can see. I knew it would look cool to have a long hallway fade into the distance. I needed something more though, so I drew upon one of my favorite pass times: music. I love playing guitar so I modeled one and I love all listening to music so I hung up several posters of bands I like a lot. I also love drawing so I put one of the posters on the desk next to the pencil as if I were drawing it. Being my first 3D modeling project, I have to say I’m pretty satisfied with it.

Problems and Solutions

I was trying to use the same texture for a couple different things and didn’t realize that when you edit the image it edits it for any object that is using that texture. To solve this I created a copy of the texture so both objects could have the same texture with different edits on them

Another problem was lighting. I couldn’t get the spotlights to be bright enough to light things up at a normal intensity (with global lighting almost all the way off). I had to crank up the intensity to 2000%, which seems ridiculous, but it work for the most part. Lighting was definitely one of the hardest parts of this project.
