Inspiration

I guess you could say when I was first designing it I was thinking about Links tree house in Zelda: Ocarina of Time. I tried to have a central theme around flowers and nature.

Problems and Solutions

Well I had a ton of problems with this project. Most of them were just trying to figure out how to use Lightwave both Modeler and Layout. I was sick for a week and I think that it defiantly put a damper on my scene. Eventually I got the hang of it, I wouldn’t say I am very good at it but I know enough to at least get things done for now. I had a very hard time with the lighting as well, I tried a bunch of different types of lights before I finally went with an area light that would illuminate the whole scene. For my 2nd render I tried a point light but I don’t think it turned out as well. Neither turned out how I wanted them too. Just setting up the whole scene was rather difficult, layout kept freaking out on me and either freezing up or just sending the camera and objects everywhere. Eventually I got it to look close to what I wanted. I had a hard time with the renders too; one took an hour of rendering only to end up freezing on me and shutting down layout. I also had a wooden texture on the whole room at one point but it wouldn’t load most of the time or just wouldn’t show up in layout. I never got to solve this problem. Also when trying to make the window (originally windows), which I didn’t really know how to do, it kept messing up my room throwing it at an angle anytime I tried to boolean subtract. I solved this by just doing one large window that didn’t end up working out either so I just turned it into a picture.

Time FramePlanning the SceneI probably only took about 20 minutes planning the layout only to have it all change on me by the end.
Desk1 hour I kept playing with the wood texture till I found one that worked.
 Texture1 hour
Lamp2 ˝ hours I kept changing it over and over till I got one that I thought look right.
Flower on top of Lamp1 hour
 Pencil10 minutes
 Rug10 minutes
 Picture30 minutes
 Glass20 minutes
Render Time50 minutes. Plus 1 hour for a render that froze.
