Sources of Game Ideas
2006 Spring ->Video Game Design ->Assignments ->Sources of Game Ideas

1. Your Life – Your Game:  consider you life, your daily routine, your summer vacation, etc. then list five (5) areas that could be games.  For each of these areas, consider and then briefly describe a possible underlying game structure.

2. Your Childhood – Your Game:  think back those many years to your childhood and think about the social games you played (i.e. hide-and-seek, four square, tag, etc.) - list ten (10) of these social games you played as a child and briefly describe what was compelling about each of those games.

3. Pair up with someone else in lab and share your lists.  Talk about the possible areas of your life you could derive a game from and talk about the childhood social games.  After this discussion, brainstorm on ideas for a video game base off your lists.  Write out three (3) game ideas – a working title and a brief description of the game including the goal of each.
