Devin Taft Desk Scene

 Quiet Desk Scene
Inspiration

Well my inspiration for this piece was to make a desk scene with sort  of a quiet and bear feeling to it. I’ve always thought that desks were furniture made for working on, and I thought that I would make one that wasn’t so much a ‘work desk’ but rather a ‘chill-out desk’. It’s a desk where someone could get away, relax and chill out drinking some wine, reading books for a while without a lot of distraction.

Problems and Solutions

I’d say overall I have spent an average of 3 hours a day over 7 days to create this scene. Modeling each piece of furniture and objects were easy and would only take about 20-30 minutes to complete. The parts that took the longest I found were using the Lightwave Layout, and creating and applying textures. I wasn’t used to using the Lightwave Layout system and it took a bunch of time just learning how everything works. The cameras and the lights were the most difficult to use because it’s hard to move objects around in the scene the way you want them to.  I found that tutorials help find your way around. Playing with the Rendering and took quite some time also, at least a few hours until I found the render and options I wanted. Overall I feel I spent a lot of time on this project, and I feel it turned out fairly well for a first time project.
