 Plain and Simple
Inspiration

My inspiration is that I really don’t care for customization or things of that latter, so default usually works for me. My favorite color is blue, so I incorporated that into the walls, and I prefer wood floors to carpet. I created a GameCube running my favorite game for the system Resident Evil 4 running on a LCD TV (wish I had one). I like things to be simple, so my room does not have several things all over the place, just some posters and desks.

Problems and Solutions

1) Lighting and Windows, created some problems in my scene. I created some windows in my room, but I could not get the lighting correctly displayed. I wanted to create the ray effect of the sun, but I could not get it the way I wanted, so I created a ceiling light bulb to light up the room in addition to the lamp.

2a) On the GameCube I wanted to use the font, but LightWave would not allow me to load the tff file. So I tried using a different font, but certain letters were coming out incorrect, or jagged. So I searched Google for a lid, and was able to find one. I would have rather created the text and stenciled it on though.

2b) Also, I wanted to show that it had a lid, but it was difficult, since I did not know how to create straight lines with LightWave. I tried to use the sketch tool, but my lines were coming out crooked and squiggly. Than I tried adding points one by one, and when I was done I made it into a polygon. Than I used the extrude option, and a Boolean operation to make it three-dimensional, and that solved that problem.

2c) The LED light for the GC was also a problem, for I could not get the Boolean operation to work with the lid or the case. So I used the knife tool, and maneuvered until a small crescent moon was showing.

3) Early on, I would work on my scene, make alterations to the surfaces, save the scene and quit. But when I loaded the scene again, I had to reconfigure everything. Than I found out you’re your suppose to “Save All Objects”, and then “Save Scene”. That way all the alterations that were made will be saved. Remember to do this, so you don’t waste time reconfiguring the same surface again.
