 A Simple Illustration
Inspiration

I came upon the idea of an illustration desk because I didn't want to make an ordinary computer desk. The story I wanted to portray was a lot of work going into a simple shape (like a circle). I originally intended on having the trash can overflowing with crumpled up pieces of paper, however I ran out of time so instead quickly made some other little things like a wine bottle, bowl of paint, and paintbrush.

Problems and Solutions

I had a hard time creating the bending legs of the desk until I learned how to use the bevel extrude tool which I then used to also create the curving lamp posts.

I was also never able to figure out how to soften the shadows so they wouldn't create such hard lines everywhere.

I also had a tough time giving the wine glass a realistic look but once I followed a tutorial and got the hang of it, I started making everything glass which increased render time. After 1 render of a room with glass walls, I soon dropped the idea.
