Lisa Kester Desk Scene

Peaceful Night in the Collector's Office
Inspiration

I wanted to make a scene in a semi-realistic fantasy style.  This office is supposed to belong to a collector.  I included various pots, paintings, and books to reflect some of the things that the collector likes to collect.  I also put a beautiful glass decoration on the desk next to one of the books that the collector was looking at earlier in the day.  Even the architecture was customized for this artistic collector’s office.  The room is octagonal shaped and the desk sits upon some circular stairs.

Problems and Solutions

Problem: Too many polygons.  This happened because I used the lathe tool to create my objects.
Solution: I used the reduce polygons+ tool to reduce the number of polygons to about 500.

Problem:  Overlapping polygons.  This happened because of the way I used the lathe tool.
Solution:  I just selected all the polygons on the surface of my object, cut it, and pasted it on a new layer.  I then turned my object around to see if there are any holes in my object.  If there were any, I’d go back to the original object and cut out the missing pieces, paste them in the new layer.  After that, I’d just delete the leftover polygons from the original layer.
