Final Playtest & CritiqueTop of Page

For the final exam period, you must have a working prototype with rules and game play material for playtesting.  This playtesting is the final exam of your project and all games will be critiqued by all members of the class.  Be ready!  You will need to have multiple playtest sets available if your game has less than four playtesters.

Project ReportTop of Page

Due by the end of the final exam period.

Include the following in the report (to be turned in as a Word document).

Group Name
Project Title

Game Summary Statement (one or two sentences)

Core Game Mechanics Statement

Treatment

Start by writing one or two paragraphs to describe the essence of your game idea.  Try to capture what makes it interesting to you, and how the basic gameplay will work.  Take this description and expand it into a three- to five-page treatment for your game idea.  Address both formal and dramatic elements identifying what is essential first before expanding upon features.

Prototype Write-up

Detail what elements you have addressed in your physical prototype and why you started with these elements.  Describe what your prototype has accomplished for the game design and development.  Place in a separate appendix the prioritized list of features.

Playtesting Results

Describe changes in your prototype due to playtesting.  List the playtesting events and what you gained from each event.

Problems and Solutions

Final PresentationTop of Page

This is a six-minute presentation regarding your game design and prototyping.  Make sure you include the working game title, a brief description of the game (summary), the core gameplay, what you have implemented in the prototype, what problems you ran into and what solutions you devised, and what the next stage for the game is.

This presentation will be in lecture the last day of class - 6 December 2006.
