| | Inspiration
Originally we had the idea of working with an outdoor scene with a lot of trees, but kind of spooky and creepy. We realized this would be hard, so we the idea turned into a Halloween idea centered around one tree. We wanted the tree on top of a hill and the ideas came from there. We then added some tomb stones, a locket, a swing, and some ground cover to add to the tree and still keep the eeriness, spookiness, and the loneliness. Our story turned to be that of a lonely hill where kids used to play, but now it serves as a graveyard where someone still visits.

| | Problems and Solutions
The tree took the longest to do, but in the end it looked good. We first tried to supbatch it from a cone and then a box, but a cylinder worked best. Later a problem came up in trying to cap off the end so that branches could be added. That was solved by making a polygon out of the gap and then adding it to the subpatched cylinder. For the tomb stones there was a problem with one of them when applying the Boolean subtract tool. One of the tomb stones we weren’t able to create a border in the middle to cut out parts of the tomb stone. To fix this we just left it alone leaving it plane with no border. SkyTracer was another quick problem we ran into. We could not figure out why the gradient was distorting our clouds and blocking out all the effects that we were applying. We soon came up with a couple solutions. First we built a sort of backdrop and applied several different types of images to see if we could get the type of background effect that we wanted and it didn’t work so eventually we went back to SkyTracer and tried it again. We soon figured out that you have to start the program in the right sequence of steps in order to get everything to work together. Then we also ran some problems with the hill and making it look more organic. For the solution we subpatched a bit and applied sasquatch.
