Mark Griffin Final Scene
 No Bad days
Inspiration

If I had to choose a place to be it would have be a nice warm beach., so that is why I decided to try to make a beach scene. Now that it’s raining in Chico the idea of a being on a beach laying in the in warm sand  as the sun shines down on you sounds even better. If I was on the beach I would need something cold to drink so I put a large I chest in the scene with a six pack of soda. I wanted to put a surfboard in the scene and I was trying to make the water look like there was a set of waves coming in. But both of those items had to discarded because I ran out of time.

Story

The story for this scene goes like this... It’s a sunny day and I live on the island. I live on the back of the island that is why you can’t see my hut. J. But to continue, I have just woke up and I am waiting for the first good set of waves roll in. I have my ice chest there with a lunch and some soda because I do not plan on leaving the beach without a full day of surfing. As you can see the sun is just coming over the hills that are on  the island and the palm trees are providing the shade for my ice chest and me if I was in the scene.

Problems and Solutions

One of the biggest problems was trying to make too many objects for my scene and make spending too much time on each object; the tree is a perfect example of this. I worked on trying to make the palm tree for over a week. I first tried to make a image that was going to be placed where the leaves would go, this way I would not have to make the leaves but rather just place an image there instead. Well that did not work out at all so I had to build the tree by hand which took much longer then I thought. The land mass also took a really long time to make. I have never tried to make anything that required me to pull, twist and bend points and polygons. I’m glad that I took on the new challenge but I wasn’t prepared for how long it would take me to figure it out. Time management was also a huge problem for me. I wasted too much time trying to do one task. I should have set a block of time for each item to be done and then if I had more time left over I could have came back and touch things up.

Time Frame

Creating and texturing the objects took a total of about 30 hours because I had to restart my computer several times. Rendering my scene took from one to three minutes depending on the view.
