| | Inspiration - I was watching “honey I shrunk the kids” and with my nieces and I thought it could use an alternate ending.
- I wanted to broaden my horizon away from the architectural models I had been focusing on before.
- The feedback I had gotten from the class indicated I needed to focus more on layout and texturing.

| | Problems and Solutions
I made a fateful decision when I decided to use spline cages to rough out my model. I was attracted to the idea making complex shapes from their cross sections. With splines, I was able to create each individual part of the mantis relatively quickly. However, getting them joined together was really tough. I had to “weld” each point by hand. Ouch! UVimaginater made it very easy to get the UV textures how I wanted them. I used Point-Clone-Plus for all the grass and spikes in the scene. Special Projection plug-in from flay.com allowed the “fish-eye” render

Hmm not really sure, I think I lived in the lab for a few weeks. If I had to guess I would say around 60 hours.
