The idea for my final project came to me as I was walking home from school a few weeks back. I had been thinking about what I wanted to model and decided on doing something with architecture. Downtown Chico has a few good looking buildings, like the Black Sea Gallery, but the Hotel Diamond is definitely going to be the centerpiece of this town. The building just looks awesome to me, so I took some pictures and went to work.

| | Problems and Solutions
My biggest problem was definitley procrastination, I made the worst possible mistake of putting this project off too long. This model took me about 25 hours total to create over the course of 3 - 4 days. As far as the actual modeling is concerned, the model wasn't extremely difficult to create, just time consuming. The part that gave me the most trouble was the building's trim (along the midsection and roof). I had to use a lot of booleans to cut the trim at the corners and a lot of welding to make it seamless. There were a great deal of other details that I wanted to be sure got on this model such as the rain gutters, window ledges, and other cutouts and shapes around the building. These took some time and patience in creating. My goal from the start was to make as detailed of a model as I could within my capabilities and I am pleased with how it turned out.
