| | Inspiration
This is a scene from onboard a large cargo spaceship. I knew that I wanted to put a sci-fi spin on my desk project so I decided to model a desk that would be found on a large ship of some sort. The inspiration for this scene came from Doom 3 which I had been playing a lot of. I wanted to give the desk a feeling that it could control the ship as well. By implementing the control panels and side monitors I think it gives it that feeling.

| | Problems and Solutions
Lighting and texturing was a major challenge in this scene. I tried to keep the polygon count to a minimum so that I could texture and light the scene with less strain on the system but not sacrifice the complexity of the desk. This was achieved by building the desk with a lot of primitives and applying a surface with smoothing enabled. The lighting in this scene was created using a cool light and a warm light. This allowed be to keep the color scheme but show depth between the desk and the hull walls. Spotlights saved the day as far as light types go because they take much less time to render. Basically I ran into every problem imaginable a beginner might encounter but I was able to learn through trial and error.
