| | Inspiration
I wanted to create a scene that was dark and eerie. I already had half a pirate ship so I thought that it would be a good idea to make a scene of a pirate ship lost at sea. I wanted this scene to remind me the sips from Pirates of the Caribbean. In that movie, you got the feeling of how big the ships were. The ships looked massive as they plowed through the open sea but as the camera panned out you could see how small the ships were compared to the open sea.

| | Problems and Solutions
Making the sea was not that hard but I spent hours messing around with procedural maps that gave the water form. There are so many things that you can do and sometimes you get lost fine tuning numbers that don’t make difference. If I were to do this again I could probably do it in five minutes but the learning process took about 20 hours. Same went with the texture. It ended up that the fog hid most of the color. But in messing with procedural maps open up a new way of applying form to different items. For instance, I gave the sails form with procedural maps in a couple of minutes.
