Patricia McCarthy Final Scene
 Lonely Island
Inspiration

When we were first assigned this project I was really wishing that it were sunny and warm outside.  And then it hit me that I should create the warmth that I was wishing for.  So I decided to create a beach scene.  Although I wanted to do something a little bit different so I decided to do a sum what deserted island.  I created an ideal island, with things that you might normally find comforting.

Problems and Solutions

First off I had a little trying to create water.  So I decided to go and try to find a texture that looked like water and then I just gave it a little tweaking so that way it looked like water.  I think it turned out pretty well.

Another place where I ran into a problem was with my island.  At first I tried to do points and then lathe them, but went it can time to render they were showing shadows straight through the island.  So I decided that I would just create a ball and just use the top half of it.  It ended up during out well.

My biggest problem for this problem was trying to create sky.  I got to actually create the sky, but once I shrunk the sky box the clouds disappeared when I went to render the scene.  So then I thought to just make the rest of my scene bigger to fit inside the box, but then it ruined my textures.  I then tried to just give it a sky horizon, but every time that I went to render the scene the sky would not come all the way down to the ground.  So then I decided to pull my whole scene up to the sky but that did not work the sky just continued to go up and live a big black line between the sky and the water.  I never got the sky to work correctly so I decided to just go without the sky and focus on the island.

Overall, the rest went pretty well.  I did not really have trouble with anything else.  My main problem was just the sky.  If I had some more time I would have liked to have gotten the sky to work.  Although everyone that I asked about the sky could not help me with my problem, so I was unable to fix it.
