| | Inspiration
Let me start of by talking about my inspiration for my final scene. I wanted to create a paradise, someplace that could only be dreamt about. However, this dreamland had to be simple enough for myself to create, and I suck pretty bad. So what I settled on was a series of three islands. I had a particular James Bond movie in mind when I was creating; I believe it was called,” Man with the Golden Gun”. | |

| | Problems and Solutions
The list of problems I encountered is a laundry one, so I will just go over a few. First off was my sky problem. When I would render the scene my sky would appear green. After much confusion and some deliberation professor ranger came to the conclusion that it was a combination of two lights. You see, I had an artificial sun which was red colored, then my sky also had a light which was orange in color. The result was a combination of the two, which produced a very bitter sunset. The result was simple, eliminating the color in one of the lights.
Another hurdle was getting my ocean to look natural. It took hours of applying various combinations to finally get something that looked o.k. at best. They give you so many options to fiddle with, reflection, shadows, translucency, transparency, and lord knows what else. I found myself in perpetual motion trying to pick the lucky combination…which either doesn’t exist, or I didn’t find.
Now it’s my tern to boast about my scene. I think it has some artistic value. It is not like my previous scenes, which I would describe as bad. I actually had some time to set up the camera and lighting the way I wanted them and the result was a tropical paradise, just like I wanted. I chose to leave the sun (a spotlight) in all of my renders, I feel it ads a little bit more to the story I was trying to tell. I would also argue that the layout of the islands is artistic. Believe it or not it took some time just to get those three sisters to look “natural”. Now that it’s all over, I would have to say this is my best work yet.
