Inspiration

When this class started, I had a very hard time creating any object other than a box or a ball.  As time went on, I improved.  By the time the final project came around, I felt ready to take on the creation of something that had interest to me, and that is the sitcom, Seinfeld.  I created a replica of Jerry’s apartment building, from the common perspective of the audience of the show.  I’m proud how it turned out, and at the same time I’m surprised to accomplish something I never thought I’d be able capable of.

Problems and Solutions

The problems I ran into on this assignment were primarily concerning the workings of my layout.  I created a few objects that wouldn’t load in my layout, and as a result I had to make them all over again.  Also, my objects kept moving back to their origin after I put them where I wanted them, but I eventually figured out that was because I wasn’t hitting enter after I moved them.

This project was by far my best experience though.  I learned to use more tools than ever thanks in part to the in-class tutorials, and as a result, I feel I know much better ways to go about creating things.  Also, I finally became familiar with the lighting aspect of Lightwave.  Ultimately, I think my final project is much better than anything I created prior, and it serves as a major reward for the many difficulties I had in the past.

I must add that my Lightwave layout got seriously messed up before I turned it in and I don’t know why.  As a result, the layout is way off.  One must look closely at my final picture to see what I really made.  I spent as much time as I could to try to fix it, but the differences didn’t show on any of my three means of saving (CD-R, ZIP, and Student Work Folder) until the day it was due.
