Jediah Blankenship Final Scene
 Jester's Flat
Inspiration

This scene was dreamed up and diagramed roughly 4 years ago. It was the setting for a short story in which a modern day jester held an elaborate party for outlandish guests. My scene shows off a couple of the rooms from Jester’s flat, for the scene to be complete it would require several more, as well as a few dozen guests.

Problems and Solutions

I once called someone a fool for having volumetric light pass through a reflective transparent surface… now I am that fool.  I made one of the classic blunders on this project. I changed my mind on what I wanted to do.  Not only did this waste a good deal of time, it also changed my project into something that took far more render time.  Water and glass are everywhere in this scene, I have a dozen lights, and image maps over the bulk of the textures.  By the end of this project my video card hated me badly enough to crash to restart on an hourly basis. I think the worst thing I had to deal with on this project was knowing that to do it right would take more time then I had, so I had to create something that would work with the time I had, personally acquiring detachment from ones work is harder then any technical skill in creating artistic pieces.
