The most amazing things can come out of a brain with a little practice and a lot of thought. The scene I created started from a simple layout drawing of a room with a few sketches of what objects I would like to create to go in this room. From this very simple drawing I proceeded to make a scene with many interesting points of view as well as a story to tell. I chose to model my room after a room that I saw in a movie with Jack Nickelson recently. This is where I got the inspiration for the way the room is laid out as well as the idea of putting a window right in front of the desk in order to create some interesting light effects within the room. I wanted to create a space age, serene, yet visually stimulating, look to my room which I feel I did quite well with. I wanted to create something that would not trap the mind of the observer in a box but make them wonder what is going on outside this box. I wanted the observer to try to look out the window.

| | Problems and Solutions
This scene was very challenging in many ways for me. First of all I was very new to the program of Light Wave so I was forced to learn this program in many ways very quickly. Once I had finally figured out the basics I was able to proceed making many objects such as a space aged desk or a futuristic, flat screen, plasma, computer monitor, or even a beautiful wine glass. I continued to build in Modeler making a very cool lamp as well ass a faceted glass jar to place the pencil in that I had made for a previous project. I also learned how to texture walls, floors, windows, as well as model all of these things. After reading all the tutorials at least once, I was able to put together some neat objects in Modeler. I was able to take those objects place them in my scene and create a somewhat complete room. After finally completing this I still had to learn how to use scene lighting in Layout and how to render a good looking scene. Unfortunately I was not able to possibly understand and use all of these features in the class time provided, so I came in on my own time for many hours so I could get the look I was searching for and render enough images. Out of the scene I made every object except for the keyboard which I borrowed from light wave. I also did not make the actual images seen on the posters I borrowed these images from a web site.
This was a very fun assignment with a good pay off. I worked very hard but it shows. This project was very effective in teaching me the basics of both Modeler and Layout and I am excited to use these techniques to build many more things in the features. I feel that the creativity I have pushing me to be original and special in so many ways will only become more obvious as I learn.
