| | Inspiration
I wanted to make my desk scene the way in which I would like mine at home to be. My original sketch, as you might imagine, was much more elaborate and was set in a Loggia type atmosphere. Clearly, I did not have enough time to do all of that business. Therefore, the next best option in my mind was to try and make the scene interesting through color. Color is very important to me and I wanted that to come through in my above all, especially since I wasn't going to be able to make my scene as in depth as I had previously thought. I didn't want my desk scene to be the traditional, old boring place, so I tried to spunk it up a bit with color. I actually never spend any time at my desk at home because I have a laptop now, so I did try to stay true to the reality of things by putting a laptop in the scene. I'm a big linoleum fan so I chose that texture for my floor. I wanted to keep the story very simple so I decided the best way to do that was to make the scene look really tidy.

| | Problems and Solutions
I had too many problems to talk about all of them. The main problem I had was figuring out the program! It took me several class periods to get a decent grip on what was going on. I went online to Lightwave tutorials and learned how to make a glass and a coffee mug... although the first couple of mugs that I made were so thin that when I tried to put a glass texture onto them, they were almost transparent. Luckily, I got it worked out with a little help from my neighbors. Once I got my main objects made, like my walls, floor, desk, lamp etc., things started becoming a little easier.
As in Aura, the thing that is the hardest for me is remembering to put things on separate layers. That is key. I am looking forward to the next project so I can start fresh. Lighting wasn't all that difficult. It was just a matter of positioning and then deciding which way I liked the lights. Getting the point light situated in the lamp was definitely the most difficult of the lighting ordeal. I really believe that the hardest things for me were learning the program and about all of the tools, remembering to put objects on different layers, and finally remembering to name all of the different textures I was using.
