| | Inspiration
I started with the idea that I would liberate my desk from the normal scene of a house or building, this idea evolved into a kind of space desk. At this point I felt that a normal desk would look very out of place and would be less fun to model. So I went for a more alien approach.

| | Problems and Solutions
The majority of my problems were in creating alien looking objects. This was a great problem because I was very often unable to smooth objects the way I would of like because of the type of tools I was using, therefore I ended up hand tweaking a lot of vertices and creating many of the objects for simple boxes.
Other problem I can across was with the space background. It took longer than I had planed to make and it took a lot of tweaking to get it to fit into the world. I had many problems with the texture repeating at first. I fix this with a change in blending type and some Photoshop pattern tricks.
A problem I am still having is with some of the lighting. I think it is too monochromatic and takes some of the detail out of it. I also don’t like the harsh shadows on some of the objects like the outer base station rings. Overall I wish I had more time in layout to tweak the lighting and some of the textures.
