Rhiannon Stephens Final Scene
 Kitchen
Inspiration

My inspiration for this project was derived from my job. I work at a hardware store, and several months ago the managers at my work decided to remove the television from our break room, leaving us with only home improvement magazines to read. While at first I was having trouble coming up with an idea for this assignment, I later found many ideas in those magazines, including my final decision, which is a kitchen scene. I liked the look of the woodworking and tile in the advertisements for kitchen design, and decided it would be fun to recreate a three-dimensional scene of a kitchen.

Problems and Solutions

I made a considerable mistake in this project, and that was to place all of my objects into one object file. I thought this would make it easier when it came time to putting my scene together, and truthfully, it did make it easier  much easier. However, the problem with this was that I had so many polygons in one object file, that it crashed my computer and it ended up corrupting the file right when I was almost finished with the project. So I ended up having to redo the assignment. Fortunately remaking the scene was relatively easy since I had done it all before.

The second problem I encountered while making this scene was the lighting. For some reason my program wasn't letting me put multiple lights into this scene, which were completely necessary for making it look the way I wanted. Quite often when I tried to render my scene, it would be completely dark because the lights weren't working for one reason or another. I could not figure out why the lights were not working, and after trying a number of possibilities, I just took what I could get, so the scene still does not look how I wanted it, but it's suitable.
