| | Inspiration
My inspiration for creating this scene comes form several sources. These sources being various movies and games. Among the movies that inspired this scene are: Aliens, Macross, and Final Fantasy the spirits within. The main game from which inspiration came is Warhammer 40,000. In particular the Space Marines, which are modeled after descriptions from the book Starship Troopers.

| | Problems and Solutions
I began this project planning to make only one main object. That object was the tank. I spent as much time on it as I could to make it look exactly as I wanted it. I even bothered with extreme details that would probably never be seen while viewing the object within the scene. For example, the treads and wheels of the tank are highly detailed, from individual tracking on the treads to each bolt being present in the wheel structure. This lead to my first problem, (and probably most people's main problem) not enough time. I had originally planned to place the tank in a field of grass and rock with the occasional crater. Seeing that I was down to one day left to work and I hadn't really started my layout or renderings, I quickly improvised by borrowing some streets from Lightwave and completing the scene with some simple buildings of my own which were nothing more than plain boxes that I slapped a procedural grid structure on. I thought they turned out rather well for having spent a total of 10 minutes on the entire city. This improvisation helped me finish my scene on time, even though I would have rather made it in a different environment.
