Susan Cooper Final Scene
 Always Remember
Inspiration

My inspiration originated from my best friend Ryan and some of my distant family members.  For Ryan, it his first time being in New York for school and it was only on September 10th when he visited the World Trade Center for the first time.  It is almost harsh to image what would have happened if he waited one more day for him and his new friends to visit there.  This really is a horrible event for us to remember, but I will remember and cherish those who were less than fortunate on this day.

Problems and Solutions

Where do I begin?  My little problems started off with not being a master at texturing objects.  I spent a lot of time trying to figure things out for myself and I got pretty far, but once I got some help from people I learned a lot.  I applied that knew knowledge for other ideas for my final product.

Another small issue that irritated me was with the water portion.  It wasn't so much the texturing that was frustrating to me; it was more of how the reflection was projecting from the city on the water.  Once I made changes (so many that I don't know exactly how I did it) it turned out to be adequate.  I think changing the reflection and luminosity percentage had a big effect for the final product.

My BIG problem was with my volumetric lighting for the twin towers!!  Since I knew that this would be my main focal point, I really wanted to get a good projection from the lights.  After 3 labs I got it to look perfect then I started modeling my bridge and city.  Once I put everything in layout and replicated my procedure to create my lightsthe problems began.  From the first picture you can see that they looked like 2 solid beams of light, which looks good, but it wasn't the look I wanted.  After 16 hourswe figured it out (the day project was due J )!!!  The density was on 100% which wouldn't allow my textures to show.  Once I turned that to almost 1% and changed the opacity and luminosity it turned out ok.

If I could do it again: I would be a master at texturing and I would have wanted more time for building my city instead of using generic boxes with a texture image.  I also wish I could have placed lights on the bridge in layout, but I am not very patient for the rendering time it would have taken.
