Alan Weibel Desk Scene
 Bare Necessities
Inspiration

This desk scene was design to resemble my college dorm room.  When I left for college, I didn't have any furniture.  All I had was my computer.  After finding some usable junk behind a supermarket, and spending some money to buy spray paint, I had my room up and running.  I enjoyed the ghetto ambience of my dorm room, as well as the complements of my cheap decorating style.

My scene features a desk, computer, cinderblocks, pencil, sketchbook, stool, spray paint, and a light bulb hanging by a wire in a 10'x 10' room.  The wooden desk is set on top of six cinderblocks.  On top of the desk lies a sketchbook, pencil, spray paint, and a computer.  The spray paint and keyboard contain custom textures I created with my digital camera.  On two of the walls in my scene, there are graffiti art pieces.  One is a poster of a photograph taken at an abandoned warehouse, and the other is an original piece sketched then scanned and colored in Adobe Photoshop.  Hanging from the ceiling is a light bulb connected to its electrical wire

Problems and Solutions

Definitely the hardest and most time consuming object in my scene was the electrical wire.  It runs from the outlet on the wall, up to the ceiling and across the top of the ceiling to the middle of the room.  Hanging on the other end of the wire is a light bulb with a flare that lights the room.  The wire was hard to design and connect.  I tried the best I could and with lots of time put in lining it up, I think it came out pretty well.  I was disappointed when, after rendering, I saw that you can barely recognize it
