Kyoko Kubo Desk Scene
 My Future Desk
Inspiration

The desk scene is created based on my imagination. I have no desk at home, and I study at kitchen table, friend's house, or at coffee shop. Right after I heard this assignment, I decided to make my own future desk. I like round desk because it give soft image in the room. I don't like sharp edge, and colored it light color so it reflects more light. Lighter room makes me relax. I don't like to work on something in dark room. So I placed room light and desk light so the scene get enough light. For the light shape, I wanted to create something unique. There are too many cone shapes light and square light, so I designed round shape light. I created book shelf big, and in the future, I am supposed to get a lot of books. My future desk scene must have paintings since I love painting. The inkbottle is representation of my future job, either an animator or cartoonist. The glass vase is created just because I love to put flowers on my desk, and I am going to make one if I have time later on.

Problems and Solutions

I had many problems, but the biggest problem was that all the objects that I created were far from the crossing point. So when I loaded the image into layout from modeler, the images were overlapping, and I moved the objects in layout. However, I didn't save the placement of objects, so when I opened the scene file, it didn't show up the image that I wanted. So I probably fixed the placement 3 or 4 times in the layout, and found out the image is not fixed in the scene file. It took long time to figure out that I was supposed to save the objects after I change the placement. The second big problem was that I had a hard time applying textures. For example, when I was applying wall texture, the grains were too big, so it looked fake. So I had to try many times to get the image I wanted. Here are some tools that I learned. In order to make picture flame, I used lathe tool, and I could set four corners and the flame became a very realistic one. I listed the tutorials and it is very useful. There were too many small technical problems that I faced, and they took long time to figure out. But once I get how to do it, I can use same technique next time. And I guess I learned a lot from this project
