How to Make Grass with SasLite

Hi, my name is Jessica Orman. For my group project in Lightwave we created Stonehenge, a megalithic structure located in England. A big part of this project was creating a realistic landscape. Therefore I needed to get some realistic grass.

In this tutorial I will teach you how to load the SasLite Plug-In, how to enable it in your scene, and finally how to tweak the settings so that your grass looks real. Enjoy!

Part One - Loading the Plug-In

The tutorial that I used neglect to inform me of this step, and I did not know how to use plug-ins prior to this class, so I decided to include this in my tutorial.

Step 1

Create a simple block landscape modeler (I will not cover how to do this, since everyone in this class should already know!) Change the surface settings to the ones shown on the right. Any color of green can be used.

Step 2

Next you need to bring that object into Lightwave and load the plug-in. Once you get your new landscape into Layout follows these two simple instructions to load the plug-in.

1. Select Layout -> Plug-Ins -> Add Plug-In to bring up the “Add Plug-In” Menu
2. Add Saslite plug-in “C:/Lightwave/Plugins/Effect/Saslite.p”
