My Life at Chico State

Inspiration

As I was sitting in class thinking of what to make for my final project I looked around and realized that almost half of my Com Sci classes have been in O'Connell 124. So as my final farewell to Chico State I decided to recreate O'Connell 124 as my project. My version though does not have any students and is much cleaner than the actual room.

Problems and Solutions:

I had a great deal of problems with the lighting in the room. I originally tried to use linear lights but they gave much to harsh shadows on the walls. After some advice from Clarke I decided to change them in to Area lights, and just have one area light per light (That is still 12 lights). This lighting still was not ideal because everything looks a little bumpy and I had to take the bump map off the wall. But it looked much more realistic that linear lights.

Another problem I had was creating the chair that went with the desk. It basically just took a lot of work with the move and magnet tool.

Making my own texture took al lot more time than I had though it would. I took picture of all the object with my camera, but when I brought them in to LightWave the coloring looked all wrong. So I spent a lot of time edited the textures with both Photoshop and LightWave in order to get the coloring correct.
